I get asked consistently how I keep myself looking younger than my actual age. I turned 42 on April 2nd so skin care is extremely important to me. Although I believe genetics plays a major role I also believe you have to maintain what the good Lord has given you. Your body is your temple, right? How I nurture my skin is by having a solid & consistent daily/weekly skincare regimen.
My order of operation: Cleanse (daily), tone (daily), serum (daily), moisturize (daily), exfoliate (once or twice a week), & a mask (once a week). This is just what works for me. I’m not an Esthetician or a Dermatologist. You have to find the combination that works for you. Another concept that works for me is I believe you have to heal your skin from within. What I mean by this is you have to eat at least somewhat healthy. I say somewhat cause sometimes I do get in those moments where I eat junk food like pizza or potato chips. But lots of junk food like your greasy, sugary favs can wreck havoc on your skin. I do get the occasional pimple or blackhead. Sometimes it’s like junior high school all over again!! 😩
So… where do I buy my skin care products? Champalou Spa located in Bartlett, TN. The owner Jenilee is the sweetest person you’ll ever meet. She makes every product sold & used in each one of the services offered at the spa. All the products are natural, free of fragrance & chemicals. I have been using these products for the past two years or so. It has definitely been a blessing to my skin. I will tag the spa here so you can see for yourself the greatness that she provides at (Champalouspa). Previously I used products from TheBodyShop where I worked back in 2007. That’s when I first started to learn about natural products. This is also the time I stopped getting perms on my hair. Other natural skin care product lines I’ve used are from Lush & Origins. If you are looking for more natural brands I suggest these.
For my full skincare routine I start by washing my hands first. You don’t want to put dirty hands on your face. Then I wet my face with lukewarm water. I cleanse my face for at least 60 seconds in circular motions either with my hands or my Clarisonic. Next, I steam my face with my 2 in 1 hair/facial steamer. I’ll link that here: Amazon. I use distilled water & an essential oil in the steamer. Lately I’ve been obsessed with Rosemary Essential Oil. After steaming I do some extractions with a Blemish Extractor that I purchased from Nordstrom Rack. On the days that I don’t use the Blemish Extractor I either apply the Indian Healing Clay Mask on my face with either distilled water or Apple Cider Vinegar OR I exfoliate with a Pre + Probiotics Exfoliator. After, I saturate my face in a toner, age defying serum, eye cream applied with a Rose Quartz roller, & lastly a moisturizer. WHEW!!! Sounds like a lot I know BUT I rather do all of this than look like a dried up prune! 😂
Since the ongoing pandemic I’ve had plenty of time to perfect my skincare routine. Some other tips to consider are to make sure you are washing your sheets on a weekly basis. I put a lot of oils in my hair & it gets onto my pillowcases so that can potentially transfer to my face. This, unfortunately, causes acne. Falling asleep with your makeup on is detrimental to your skin. Always take it off before going to bed. Even if you don’t do a full routine at that moment just remove it so you won’t have to deal with unwanted breakouts later. I hope you enjoyed this post. If you have any questions about any of the products or my routine itself leave a comment. 😊

What products did you use from the Body Shop? I’ve been using a more natural skin care regimen but have not been happy with some changes they have made so I’m looking for new ideas.

Thank you for sharing your steps about your skin care routine. I do Cleanse, tone, and moisturize daily but should get better with using serums and exfoliations and masks
