Hello 2019!!! Honestly, I couldn’t wait to see you! 2018 was a pretty rough year for me. I don’t think I’ve had a year like that since 2009. Boy… that was a rough one too! WHEW!!! Anyway I won’t reflect on what made it bad. I will, in a later post, elaborate on what I am going through, but I haven’t come to that place in my life to do so yet. I do, however, want to be transparent on my blog, but it does have to be when I’m comfortable to do so. I’m just happy that the new year is here & I can knock out some goals set in place and have a fresh start.
No, 2018 wasn’t all bad. There was some good moments. I did my first yoga class at http://midtownyogamemphis.com with instagram.com/kandacestewartyoga/. She’s an awesome instructor. Please go check her out if you have the opportunity or are interested in taking a yoga class. I realized that I actually need to take more of these since it was very relaxing for me personally.
I drove all the way to Dallas, Texas to get my first curly cut. It was long over due. I don’t trust a lot of people in my hair so this was a BIG DEAL! I have searched and searched for someone that has this expertise in Memphis, but I’ve had no luck. Haiya was so knowledgable of how curly hair works. She took her time to cut my hair strand by strand and also educate me on how I need to take care of my hair. I knew she was the truth when I asked about color & she told me flat out no. She told me that if I wanted color I need to get my hair in a healthy state. I can’t wait to go back this year to get my next cut & maybe just maybe add a little color. Please Please check her out on Instagram. You will be AH-MAZED!!! instagram.com/gethaiya/
The thing I’m most proud of that I got out of 2018 was the launching of this blog. I have been wanting to do this for a while & it finally came into fruition. Now I’m working on making time to post more & take photos along with working my full time job. No one said it would be easy, but the show must go on!
I’m not one to make New Year Resolutions. I used to, but not anymore. I would make these elaborate goals that I knew in the back of my mind I wasn’t going to stick to. You know the ones… “Girl I’m gonna lose 40 pounds before the summer.” Or… “I’m going on the blah blah blah diet.” That stuff never works. By March you’ve quit eating healthy & going to the gym. LOL! I know exactly which areas need work in my life. I am going to pay close attention to those things, but work at it by taking one step at a time. I’m learning that I don’t have to do everything at once. I’m also learning that you don’t need to work your tongue & teeth out to achieve a goal. I’m not saying you can’t work hard to get what you want. I’m saying it’s okay to take a break from working on a goal to get the much needed rest your body requires. I’ve always been a workaholic… ask anyone who knows me. But your body has a way of telling you to SLOW DOWN! I’ve learned this the hard way unfortunately.
So with all that being said… Happy New Year to you all! I hope this year is prosperous and most successful for you & me as well. Hopefully we can achieve all of our goals and make 2019 the best year to come. Until next time… Peace and blessings!

I also get my hair cut by someone that specializes in curls! But you’re right… good hair stylists are hard to come by! I feel so fortunate that I found a good one here in KC!

You are so lucky to have found someone where you live! I’ll be making that trip again this year, but I know it will be worth it!
