Lately, I’ve been in a real funk. The Coronavirus has completely changed our way of living. Who knew something as simple as going to a restaurant or a workout class would constitute a threat to our wellbeing. And even though some cities have been allowing the reopening of businesses from being on complete lockdown… I still don’t feel safe going to places where large crowds are gathering. So my life for the past five and a half months has been home, work, the grocery store, REPEAT! Can you say BORING!!!! Insert eye roll emoji!!
I needed to get out… out of the house AND out of this funk! I needed a different scenery. What better way to do that was for me to get out in nature. I decided to text my friend Ajada to find out if she would like to join me for a bike ride in Shelby Farms Park. They have bike rentals at The Wheel House. Although now with “the Rona” around you have to go online to reserve your rental in advance. The rental is $12.99 for an hour and a half . With the Memphis heat that’s all the time you need anyway lol!!
The next week I decided to get my broke best friend Jaxson out of the house lol! Jaxson has tons of energy so he’s always up for a stroll in the park. One trip around the lake is about two and a half miles. I like walking him there because everyone is required to have their dog on a leash. Sometimes when walking in our neighborhood we run into stray dogs so I feel unsafe at times. The park is a much more controlled environment that I enjoy.
The next adventure was to go riding bikes downtown. This is something I had been wanting to do for a while. I’m very committed to changing my surroundings. I texted my friend Ajada again. She agreed to go with me even though she really isn’t an outside type of person AND afraid of heights! Sorry friend lol! My other friend Jasmine went with us because we had no idea how to get to Big River Crossing. Jasmine is usually there every week working out. Once we arrived we rented an Explore bike. It was only $5!
After riding for a couple of miles we decided to dock the Explore bikes. Those bikes are much heavier than the bikes we rented in Shelby Farms. Besides, we were going downhill heading to the Arkansas side of the bridge. Coming back we knew we would be going uphill, and that was NOT gonna happen lol! Plus I knew there was a sunflower field on that side of the bridge & I wanted to find it. After asking a couple of people for directions we finally found it. I was so excited! I’m a nature girl… I love flowers minus the bugs lol!!
This change of quaranscene was so much fun! It really lifted my spirits. I’m someone who loves going out and doing things whether it’s trying a new restaurant, hanging with friends or going to a festival. 2020 really threw everyone a curveball when the Coronavirus reared it’s ugly head. It’s everywhere on the news, in our conversations, on social media. I just wanted to forget about it for a little while. If you’re feeling like me I would suggest this as a solution. I’m looking forward to the fall season, with cooler temps, continuing my change of quaranscence journey.

I love this post. Iβm living vicariously through you right now because I want to be outside, but I caught the βRonaβ lol smh.
But random question, are you using your phone camera for the videos or a special one because it looks super professional.
Kristie says
Oh my goodness girl!! I hope that you get well very soon! And I’m using my iPhone 11 Max camera phone to take all my pictures and videos. I want a camera so bad but I’m very undecided on what I want plus they are super expensive. Thank you so much for reading! π
