It’s the last day of Black History Month. It’s also the last and final part to my Black Girl Magic series. I must say I’m kind of sad that this is it. Maybe I should continue this series. Possibly once a month. I believe we need to see more positive people and positive things in the world. I watched the news the other the day for the first time in probably over a year. It was just one sad story after the next. It honestly left me feeling a bit somber. So when I see someone doing something uplifting, productive as well as beneficial for other people or themselves… it makes me smile. I’m actually elated.
I’m happy for my last and final Queen Erika Stout. This has been my girl for quite some time now. Former St. Jude employee, obsessed with fundraising and philanthropy this Queen is the proud owner of an online jewelry boutique called House of Coiled Couture. She has some of the most beautiful pieces I’ve seen. And the prices are really affordable. Not only does she hold down a full time job as a Senior Financial Analyst at the Hilton, she’s an awesome mother of two cuties pies. Zoey, her daughter, is on a competitive cheer team, is a member of the student government at her school, plays the cello in the orchestra and plays volleyball. Sounds like she takes after her Mom! Ethan, her son, runs track, is in the chess club, robotics club and just started playing basketball. They are even in the process of launching their business this fall. It’s a subscription box for kids who want to make a difference in the world. WOW! Just simply AH-Mazing! Where do they find the time to do all this? WHEW!!!
Speaking of time while at St. Jude Erika racked up over 1800 hours of volunteer time in the last five years. She created an annual event for St. Jude to introduce kids to the importance of giving back called St. Jude Junior. She’s also a freelance writer, blogger, visual designer and creative. Just call her Superwoman basically! Lol! She put her creative passion in designing jewelry. She started her online boutique in 2006. You can find the boutique on Instagram Houseofcoiledcouture by clicking the link.
I asked Erika what was next on the agenda for her. She says that she will be posting constantly on her blog, traveling and sharing her experiences. Oh wait did I mention she was a master chef. Sometimes I drool at my phone when she posts something on social media. Lol! I’m amazed at her strength and endurance to do ALL of this & still be sane. I can’t wait to read her upcoming blog posts as well as anticipating the subscription box that the kids create. Keep up this amazing journey Queen. I salute you!
I’ve gotten to know some amazing women! I’m blown away by the fact that they find the time to do everything that they do. I ran across a quote by Rachel Wolchin the other day. It read, ” Surround yourself with people that reflect who you want to be and how you want to feel, energies are contagious.” I believe this to be true. I just want to be around great , positive people. I’m not with the negativity. I wanna thank all these Queens for letting me feature them on my blog. I’m so grateful for the opportunity and I will cherish this always! Much Love to them all! xoxo
